It's all very well the applicant speaking French, he still would have no clue what's being said. Nobody in Quebec speaks French, just Jouale, a kind of crucified bastarization of French. The only French spoken is North America is heard in St Pierre and Miquelon, which are part of the Paris Prefecture.

As has been pointed out, despite the statement "The Ferry Corporation of Quebec subscribes to a program of equal opportunity in employment.", it really means equal opportunity for Quebecers to the exclusion of everyone else. An Anglophone would NOT be welcomed!

Well Canada is a big country... so its not unusual to find a french posting on this site... I don't think we need the translation - then to be fair we would have to translate all the English posts, and I think this is just silly comment - so it's a position better suited for a bilingual or Native French communicators, its ok.

Some people might say that in Newfoundland, they have their own language as well. I know from experience that east coast positions, at one time, Rockies east, were off limits to us west coasters. Even now, seems Montreal east still remains very off limits to non regional types.

I think its important to maintain some perspective here. Anyways, its good to hear of the position from people hiring ! I for one, I'm happy to hear that there is some work out there for us engineers.
