Job Description

Reporting to the President, this strategic role will have functional responsibility for the design and execution of best in class planning principles

Develop and implement best in class planning principles, processes and infrastructure that supports the organization’s vision to be the trusted centre of excellence for designing and building the federal fleet.
Establish clear Build Strategies and ensure appropriate production engineering principles are developed and agreed prior to program start up.
Implement a robust Design Build process for the NSPS program including part standardization, part reduction and design for producibility standards.
Lead detail planning activities – ensuring a focus and drive to achieve targets through schedule adherence
On behalf of planning, oversee the implementation of our ERP system and the integration of all new tools with existing legacy systems.
Ensure the consistent integration of all schedules and plans across the business and various programs
Implement and maintain a long term manpower planning process for the shipyard
Work collaboratively with Program Management Engineering, Supply Chain and Production, to ensure critical success factors are a comprehensive part of plan design and delivery
Lead the development and performance management of the planning function including key metrics and balanced scorecard.

Desired Skills & Experience

Minimum 10 years combined leadership experience including five to eight years in a senior management role
Ship construction experience
Experience of implementing planning IT/software solutions
Relevant undergraduate degree
Strong project management skills
Strong understanding of and application of lean sigma methodology
The ability to lead change and motivate the teams desire to continuously improve
Have the ability to think creatively and strategically

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
