Paid on salary basis or share of the catch? It should be noted that STCW Certification is required. These ship operate outside Canadian Near Coastal limits, 200 miles offshore, sometimes calling at Greenland or Iceland. The "old" 3rd Class, 3M, or "Chief Engineer Fishing Vessel" is a watchkeeping Certificate, STCW III/1, same as 4th Class outside of Canadian NC 1 limits.
