Do you have a knack for organization and communication with diverse customers? Our client is looking for an Operations Assistant for their Victoria, BC location. With opportunities to grow within the company, this position offers an energetic and enthusiastic candidate training and mobility.

On Vancouver Island, they provide terminal services to the break-bulk trade as well as cruise ship services at Ogden Point in the Port of Victoria. In addition, our client is the operator of Canada’s largest break-bulk terminal.

This position is based in Victoria, BC located the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Twice named the Best City in the Americas since the year 2000, Victoria is one of the world’s favorite places! Living in Victoria is easy with its small town feel with big city perks. Year-round outdoor access is also a bonus with local lakes, hiking trails, cycling routes and paths

Terms of Employment:
Permanent, Full-time
Salary:

Competitive salary dependent upon experience.
Location:
Victoria, BC British Columbia
Shifts:

Monday to Friday, on call on weekends. Flexible schedule required, summertime is quite busy.

Experience:

Experience working in a fast paced office environment required. Prior experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset. Those with experience in the operations industry will be given preference.
Education:

Minimum two year post-secondary education preferably focused in business or the marine/transportation sector.
Skills and Abilities:

Strong aptitude for operations;
• Flexible, adaptable work style and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
• Proficiency in MS Office products;
Duties and Responsibilities:

Data entry (scheduling and billing), administrative support, out port activities, working with clients, sourcing tenants, invoicing, terminal operations, and computer work with databases, excel, and word.

Other Requirements: Driver’s license is required. This full-time position supports the cruise operations from May to October each year; therefore, candidates must be flexible in responding to the demands of a fluctuating operations environment during this period.
