Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Marine Safety Lead, based in Bull Arm, Newfoundland.

Job Description

The Marine Safety Lead will assist and play an active part in implementing, coaching, and overseeing the project safety program.

Provide guidance to marine personnel concerning regulatory and compliance issues
Collaborate with marine operations, engineering and construction personnel in the development of marine plans, operating procedures and field operations
Assist in risk assessments, HAZIDs and HAZOPs in relation to marine activities
Supervise and mentor marine safety advisors
Influence workforces personal behavior to lower risk tolerance
Mentor staff and craft personnel to safely complete assigned tasks
Analyze activities on site to identify trends in key performance indicators
Act as a team player with entire Company safety team

Skills & Experience

Bachelor degree or diploma in a relevant discipline would be an asset
Vast experience in a safety role within the marine and industrial construction environment
Previous experience in a supervisory role
Accredited Health and Safety Certification or Canadian Registered Safety Professional Certification desired
Working knowledge of OH & S legislation
Knowledge of vessel, barge, tugs and ferry operations
Scaffolding & lifting operation experience is an asset
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well within teams
Superior verbal/written communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Able to work in a fast pace and diverse environment

This is a contract position.

The rate for this position is negotiable.

Sounds more like Canada Labour Code Pt 2 than CSA 2001. Looks like MOSH and SWP Regulations could apply in some situations though.
