Description

ROLE:

The Millwright is responsible for the construction and maintenance of SLSMC machinery, equipment and structures.

HIGHLIGHT OF DUTIES:

Assemble, install, test, maintain & repair equipment and machinery
Perform hydraulic maintenance and inspect diesel and gas engines
Assist with civil work, as required
Operate cranes or similar hoisting devices
Unload and/or load and transport heavy equipment and machinery
Complete standard maintenance field reports
When required, ensures the effective operation and maintenance of Seaway machinery and equipment (including VM/S Hercules)

QUALIFICATIONS:

General and Specific Knowledge

Working knowledge of mechanical and rigging procedures and techniques
General understanding of mechanical drawings and specifications
General understanding of mechanical plans and layouts

Formal Education and/or Certification(s)

College diploma in Technical Studies (e.g. Industrial Mechanics)
Completion of an apprenticeship program in a mechanical trade (Mechanical/Maintenance)
Certificate in a trade issued by the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) or the equivalent in Ontario
3rd Class Marine Engineer Certificate and experience as a Marine Engineer
Continued Proficiency Endorsement (CPE)
Marine Emergency Duties Certificate (MED)
Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record

Years of Experience

Four (4) years of experience in maintenance, installation and inspection of heavy equipment and mechanical work

Linguistic requirements

Demonstrate verbal and written communication in French

Competencies

Ability to:

Use various tools, measurement instruments and machining equipment
Read and understand technical drawings and assembly plans
Plan and sketch technical work

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours

SALARY: Job class 6
$31.33/hr (step 1)
$33.43/hr (step 2)
