Operations Superintendent

For 40 years our client has serviced the Canadian marine sector with an experienced team of 700 professionals. They are exceptional at what they do which includes: marine transportation, dredging, marine equipment rentals and ship repair. They are expanding and currently have a newly created role for an Operations Superintendent located in Bull Arm, NL.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Director for schedule planning
Plan and manage working teams
Prepare day-to-day operations reports
Offer product support (mechanical failure, monitoring, etc.)
Ensure relations and monitor follow-ups between teams
Follow up on maintenance plans
Ensure compliance with ISO and ISM Code standards and prepare audits
Give functional support to Captains, Engineers and Seamen
Implement means to optimize and improve productivity
Elaborate work policies and procedures and monitor their compliance
Participate to senior management operations and management meetings
Ensure the promotion and compliance of occupational safety standards with the crew
Manage the ship's wharf activities
Make material requisitions and ensure delivery at port

Requirements:

Engineering certificate or a diploma in engineering or navigation
Experience in the marine sector
Excellent knowledge of the Code ISM standards
2 to 3 years' experience in a similar position
Available for frequent travels to St. John's
Proficient with the Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Available evenings and weekends
Demonstrate leadership and have good organizational skills
