2nd Engineer

Ocean Choice International L.P. (OCI) is one of Atlantic Canada's most diversified seafood companies, producing and marketing a full range of shellfish, groundfish and pelagics species. OCI is currently accepting applications for the position of 2nd Engineer on board the vessel Newfoundland Lynx.

Qualifications: Minimum STCW 95 Canadian 3rd Class Engineering Certificate

The successful candidate must be a graduate of a Canadian recognized 5 year marine engineering program or equivalent, and have a comprehensive understanding of, but not limited to the following:

Refrigeration system management
Switch board systems operation and management
Propulsion plant operation and maintenance
Electrical automation / control systems understanding, specifically VFD's
Basic ships systems understanding, evaporator, boiler, hvac. Pumps etc
Daily work management, maintenance program management
Understand and promote RCM maintenance methodology
Metal working skills , machine work and welding a must
Be proficient in understanding electrical drawings and basic ships electrical layout
Able to trouble-shoot systems, recognize problems
Promote a safe work attitude
Understand the responsibility concerning TCMS and DNV
Support the chief in planning maintenance
Establish and promote an "improvement attitude" within the team
