Job Description

OSI Maritime Systems Ltd. (OSI) is looking to recruit experienced Systems Engineers over the next year to be part of the engineering team that develops marine navigation and bridge systems for OSI's government and naval markets. The role involves the development of concepts through to the design and ongoing maintenance of OSI's product lines. Located in OSI's headquarters in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, this position will suit individuals with drive, ambition and the desire to achieve outstanding results in a highly technical field. The ideal candidates have a background in systems engineering with proven working experience in marine electronics, sensor integration and with integrated bridge systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will execute various system engineering functions throughout the life cycle of the project. The incumbent:

Develops design concepts and generates technical proposal in response to Request for Quotation(RFQ)
Develops System designs, performs functional analysis, defines systems architecture, defines interfaces and specification, performs trade-studies and documents the design by writing SDD, ICDs, SRS
Performs requirement analysis, traceability and maintenance of requirements
Designs to government standards such as the Military standards, IMO in accordance to the requirements and demonstrating compliance
Ensures Availability & Reliability and other Logistics support considerations are part of the system design process
Reviews obsolescence issues and recommends design changes
Attends and participates in customer design reviews and acceptance events
May participate in system integration tests, trials, and acceptance tests at customer facilities
Manages scope of work, schedules the work, estimates the effort, the costs and identifies technical risks; effectively communicates status on a regular basis to management
Works in both a team environment and independently with minimum supervision

The incumbent has experience in working with various organizations and system components (software engineering, hardware engineering, integration and test, production, manufacturing and logistics) and can take on the technical lead of a project.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education: Degree in Systems Engineering or related field or equivalent experience; eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada

Experience: Minimum of 10 years engineering experience, 3-5 years of which is experience in systems engineering; experience in marine electronics and integrated bridge systems; experience in defense or government domain preferably in Naval ship sector.

Skills: Proven track record in the timely delivery of engineering related projects; good knowledge of marine navigation and tactical sensors or systems; excellent knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, standards and best practices; working experience in network design and architecture; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; familiarity with requirements and verification management tools such as DOORS; knowledge of safety engineering and human factors engineering is an asset.

Other: Eligible to obtain and maintain a NATO security clearance; willing and able to travel
