Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 10 to 12 years relevant work experience. Degree(s) must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 20 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Prefer 10 to 12 years of experience as a Marine Electrical Engineer with detailed knowledge of commercial ship or Coast Guard and/or Naval vessels, including all Electrical systems. Experience with AC and DC integrated electric propulsion systems, drive systems, switchboard design and electrical distribution systems. Experience in performing fault current analysis and circuit breaker coordination studies. Experience with ship and machinery control systems and oversight of Propulsion system integrators. Thorough knowledge of Class Society, IMO, SOLAS and IEEE 45 standards.

Canadian Citizenship Required.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Senior marine electrical design engineer on Canadian and International Naval and Coast Guard vessel ship designs. Must be able to interpret customer requirements and desires, and incorporate into designs and specifications. Will be responsible for design and recommendation of selection of equipment for shipboard electrical and auxiliary systems for new ship designs, including electrical propulsion configurations. Will be responsible for setting up shipyard electrical standards, review of functional and detail design products. Interface with the government customer.
