Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is part of the J.D. Irving Group of companies and is in the business of building quality ships and repairing vessels. The company’s primary site is Halifax Shipyard. Irving Shipbuilding is currently working on a number of significant projects for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Coast Guard.

Reporting to the AOPS Marine Engineering Lead, the Marine Engineer will assist in managing and overseeing the marine engineering and design products associated with the AOPS Project.

Responsibilities

· Validation that the marine/mechanical technical products developed by the design agent and system integrators meet the requirements of the ship specification, associated references and the shipyard

· Assist in management of the mechanical technical interfaces between the design agent and the integrators

· Assist with mechanical engineering and design change between Canada, the design agent, and the integrators

· Support of technical and design review meetings both internally and externally

· Provide field support to production for mechanical and marine equipment

Qualifications – Education, Knowledge and Skills:



· Qualified mechanical/marine Engineer with significant Naval marine experience

· Familiarity with Classification Society Rules

· Minimum of 10 years relevant leadership experience in Naval marine environment

· Knowledge of working with a Government and Naval customer base

· Strong sense of working through teamwork

In addition all successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
