ESTIMATOR - FLEET PLANNING & PROJECTS- Richmond

You have an analytic mind, excel when liaising on projects with different departments, and have a talent for estimating. You provide technical support, costing and estimating expertise, including specifications, cost estimates and contract administration for new construction, modifications, refits, repairs and capital projects. Reporting to the Executive Director of Project Management and working closely with Engineering Superintendents, Project Managers, Production Managers, Maintenance Planners and the Supply Chain department, you are responsible for preparing business case information; undertaking special projects and assignments; visiting vessels, developing contract documentation packages; monitoring and ensuring corporate compliance with all regulatory agencies.

You work both independently and as a collaborative team member, utilizing effective problem-solving and time management skills. You are a clear, concise communicator, maintaining cooperative working relationships within a diverse industrial environment.

You must possess a high school diploma, and a BC or Interprovincial Trades Qualification in a relevant marine industry/shipyard trade, or Transport Canada Marine Engineer certification. A technical degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture is preferred. You must also have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working within a shipyard or ship refit facility and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience estimating ship construction, conversion or refit work. Significant experience as Chargehand,

Foreman or Trade Supervisor in a shipyard or ship refit facility is preferred.
