Surveyor for ClassNK in Montreal

A well respected leader in the Marine industry, ClassNK, is seeking a highly motivated independent marine surveyor for the Montreal office. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience.

The key functions will be to examine and report on vessels in order to ensure compliance with the applicable requirements for maintaining the vessel in Classification with ClassNK and meeting associated statutory and special service requirements related to SOLAS,MARPOL, LL, and Cargo Gear. In addition, problem resolution, technical reporting, and client relationship management are a must.

Necessary skills include ability to read engineering plans, knowledge of ship engineering systems and machinery, a degree or equivalent from a recognized institution within a relevant field of marine or mechanical engineering and relevant seagoing experience as a certified ship engineer.

The candidate will work from a home office set up in which ClassNK will provide all necessary equipment to perform duties. Must have ability to work independently with occasional evening and weekend surveys upon demand of industry. This position reports directly to the General Manager of Canada located in Vancouver BC.

A mandatory training in Japan for one month for the successful candidate as well as ongoing support from an experienced surveyor located in Montreal will be provided.

Fluency in both English and French is mandatory.

The remuneration package is competitive including a company car and opportunity to advance. Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada.
