Algoma is a leading Canadian shipping company, owning and operating the largest Canadian flag fleet of dry-bulk carriers and product tankers operating on the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Waterway.

The fleet includes 19 self-unloading dry-bulk carriers, 6 gearless dry bulk carriers and 7 product tankers. The Company is a leader in dry-bulk and liquid bulk transportation focused on meeting the special needs of customers. With the introduction of our Equinox Class vessels, Algoma will continue to lead the way in operating vessels with improved performance and efficiency with a smaller environmental impact, while at the same time increasing comfort onboard for the crew.

Algoma offers a competitive wage and compensation package to shipboard employees. Both the Algoma Tanker fleet and dry-bulk fleet offer desirable leave systems. The tanker fleet offers a rotation schedule of 30 days onboard and 30 days leave, while the dry-bulk fleet offers a voluntary leave system of 6 weeks onboard and 6 weeks leave.
In order to be considered for navigation positions, candidates must possess a minimum certificate of Chief Mate. Preference will be given to those with an Unlimited certificate.

In order to be considered for engineer positions, candidates must possess a minimum of a 3rd Class Engineer, Motor Certificate. Preference will be given to those with a 2nd Class Engineer, Motor Certificate or higher.
