Job Description

Neucel Specialty Cellulose is a dissolving sulphite pulp mill located in Port Alice, British Columbia.

Neucel is accepting applications from qualified candidates interested in the position of Power Boiler Engineer 4th Class

Neucel Specialty Cellulose has reached a collective agreement with Local 514 of Unifor (formerly the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP). The five year agreement offers wage increases in 2015, 2016 & 2017.

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time,
Salary:
$28.61 Hourly for 40 Hours per week; Benefits as per collective agreement
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

The ideal candidate will have the following credentials:

• 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency Certificate;

Duties:

• Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
• Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
• Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
• Conducting tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

• Direct the Hog Fuel Tender in all aspects of hog fuel conveying, drying and combustor operation to ensure maximum dry hog fuel, knots, etc to #16 Boiler feeders.
• Responsible for complete fuel oil system (i.e. pressure, temperatures, cleanliness, monitor tank levels, adjusting tank heaters, gut heaters, primary/secondary heaters and tracing steam to the Power Boilers, fireside additives).
• Maintain steam temperatures and pressures (to meet process requirements) via the pressure reducing valve/bypasses and relief valves in the absence of the Power Boiler Engineer – 3rd.
• Assist the Power Boiler 3rd, in the operation and control of #15, #16 Power Boilers and auxiliaries including fuel/air/water systems. Ensure proper furnace conditions, clean burner tips and proper flame patterns.

Note that Power Engineer, or Stationary Engineer, is a Provincial certification, every province has a different certificate. This is NOT a 4th Class STCW Marine ticket, although, if you have a 4th Class Steam Certificate, you'll probably get a 4th Class Power Engineer, after you pay some money and jump through some provincial hoops. That's my experience, anyway.

your ok to write a fourth steam stationary for time in BC if you have a 3rd class marine motor.
