Job Description

Robert Allan Ltd. is seeking the services of a Naval Architect to join our team of professionals in our Vancouver office for a full time permanent position. Robert Allan Ltd. is Canada's most senior independent Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering firm and a world leader in many fields of commercial work boat design. Fluency in Portuguese is a requirement as this position deals with Portuguese speaking clients.

As a Naval Architect at Robert Allan Ltd., you will be responsible for stability calculations, general arrangement design, inclining experiments, resistance and propulsion estimating, structural calculations, etc.

You will be a member of a number of multi-disciplinary project teams, and thus enjoy active participation in many varying aspects of vessel design and marine consulting. At the same time, you will be expected to work well independently with a minimum amount of supervision.

Role Requirements

- Undergraduate degree or other formal training in Naval Architecture
- Strong design and analytical skills
- Be capable and creative with a strong motivation to provide the highest standards of design for high performance working vessels
- Be able to work in a wide range of ship-design activities
- Possess strong skills in AutoCAD, Word, and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese
- Eligible to be registered as an EIT or P.Eng. in British Columbia
- Eligible to work in Canada

In-depth knowledge of the application of rules of major Classification Societies, Canadian and US National Authorities, SOLAS, and IMO is desirable. Shipyard and/or sea experience is a definite asset. Robert Allan Ltd. is offering a competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.
