TC 2nd Class needed for Bay Ferries

Job Description:
Island Recruiting has partnered with Bay Ferries Ltd. to assist in their search for their next great employee. We are currently searching for 2nd Class Engineers to join the Bay Ferries Ltd. team in St. John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities:
Responsible to the Chief Engineer for maintenance of all equipment and machinery
Responsible for preparation, start up, and shut down of machinery
Operate main engines, machinery, and all auxiliary equipment aboard ships, such as boilers, steering and deck machinery, motors, pumps, generators and condensers
Ensures reliable performance, proper maintenance and service of the equipment under control, constant availability of the vessels damage control devices;
Stand engine room watch, monitoring and noting performance of engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment
Inspect and conduct maintenance and emergency repairs to engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment
Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the engine room crew
Maintain records and prepare reports on engine performance and failures.

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
Education:
• 2nd Class Engineering Certificate
• Valid MED (Marine Emergency Duties) Certification
• Valid Seafarer’s Medical Certification

Experience:
• 5 years of experience in a related industry or position
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment, alarm systems, and safety equipment
• Knowledge of Safety Management System• Flexible, inventive, and a high sense of responsibility
• Self-motivated and able to work in both a team or independently
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
