Job Description:
Island Recruiting has partnered with Bay Ferries Ltd. to assist in their search for their next great employees. We are currently searching for Engine Room Assistants (ERA) to join the Bay Ferries Ltd. team in St. John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Engineer on watch, the Engine Room Assistants will be responsible for:
• Timely maintenance and repairing of machinery• Regular cleaning, maintenance, and painting of machinery spaces
• Chipping, cleaning, and painting of vessel tanks
• Safe and proper operation of engine room machinery and equipment
• Safe and proper use and care of tools and supplies
• Standing watches in machinery spaces, monitoring and servicing machinery and equipment
• Receiving engine room stores and supplies
• Other duties as assigned

Vacancies: 2
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Seasonal, Full-Time

Education:
• Engine Room Rating Certificate
• Valid MED (Marine Emergency Duties) Certification
• Valid Seafarer’s Medical Certification

Experience:
• 5 years of experience in a related industry or position
• Self-motivated and able to work in both a team or independently
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
