Hornblower Niagara Cruises is seeking a seasoned leader to direct and manage its marine operation. This hands-on position requires an individual who can balance vessel, facility, land based security, crew leadership and administrative details. This position reports to the General Manager of Hornblower Niagara Cruises. Essential job functions and duties include but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direction and leadership of the Marine Operations Department including marine crew, marine engineers, building/grounds maintenance, facilities crew, land based security crew, shuttle drivers.
Plan and monitor all daily dockside operations while directing the Marine Manager and the Security/Facilities Manager.
Lead projects during new vessel builds, equipment upgrades, vessel maintenance and repair including haul outs, major rehabs and equipment overhauls.
Manage and oversee all capital purchasing and support the business development team.
Monitor and ensure compliance with all provincial, federal and industry specific legislation and company standard set for all project and daily operation.
Manage and develop external relationship including all authorities, regulators, local stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and consultants.
Identify, select and purchase major equipment and materials to maintain marine facilities and meet regulatory requirements.
Develop, maintain and repair pier and vessel landing facilities in accordance with all provincial, federal and local regulations.
Maintain a relationship with Transport Canada and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
Develop and maintain the company integrated vessel-facility security plan in accordance with homeland security.
Responsible for ensuring technical and personal development of the marine operations employees and crew.
Accountable to maintain industry knowledge of best practices, new technologies and systems to improve the quality of guest experience and employee performance.
Hold marine operations employees accountable to the environmental, safety and quality Respect and SMS systems of the organization and to work closely with the Manager of ISO/Respect & Training to implement such systems, plans and control of records and documentation.

Requirements:

IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:

Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in a marine operation
Minimum five plus years of experience managing and leading a staff of fifty (50) or more employees
BA/BS post-secondary education at an accredited maritime college or other institution preferred
Current Master Limited over 60 tons or equivalent preferred
Strong leadership, customer service, organizational, and planning skills
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written, oral and listening) including conflict resolution skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
The ability to successfully complete a criminal background check
