Duties

The member is responsible for:
1. maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment on board police patrol vessels, vehicles and basic water transport;
2. implementing and maintaining the prescribed vessel maintenance program during patrol, lay up or refit;
3. assisting in ongoing repair and refit of patrol vessels and basic water transport; and
4. developing and implementing operational, maintenance and repair standards for RCMP vessels and related equipment and machinery.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of secondary school education or an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

Extensive* experience in the maintenance and repair of various marine vessels such as catamarans, zodiacs, rigid hull inflatable boats, basic water transports.
*Extensive – Experience obtained over approximately the last 5 years.

Knowledge of the operation of marine mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment and systems.
Knowledge of ship's construction.
Knowledge of engine room and deck machinery maintenance and repair programs and procedures, associated regulations and regulatory authorities.
Knowledge of shipboard safety practices and procedures.
If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Valid MOT 3rd Class Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency (MOTOR), or higher.
Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's licence for the Province of British Columbia or equivalent or mobility generally associated with possession of a class 5 driver's licence.
Must be willing and able to work flexible hours on short notice to meet operational needs.
Must be willing and able to travel for work-related matters.
