Position Power Systems Technician or Engineer

Duties / Responsibilities
Position Summary:
- Demonstrate Technical competencies as listed below.
- Prepare quotes as required to customers, with the assistance of the manager as required.
- Assist manager / sales personnel with performing sales calls to key clients as required.
- Complete daily time sheet and weekly expense account.
- Plan and schedule own work schedule in cooperation with the manager.
- Prepare detailed work reports for customers in a timely manner.
- Prepare all completed files so that the work report, quote, and purchase order, along with any other financial details, are provided to Accounting to ensure timely invoicing to the client.
- Assist manager with implementation of new ideas and cost improvements.
- Train and mentor junior service technicians through on the job training and work assignments.

Technical competencies:
- Installation, maintenance, and commissioning of power distribution equipment in the marine, industrial, utility and oil and gas sectors.
- Testing and verification of all components pertaining to electrical generation, distribution, protection and control of electrical systems.
- Specialized testing of electrical power components such as switchboards, circuit breakers, transformers, motors and generators.
- Power Factor Testing
– HV Power Equipment
- AC & DC Hi-Potential Testing
- Protective Relay Calibration & Installation
- Ground Grid Testing- Infrared Inspection Services
- Ultrasonic Inspection
- Electrical and Leak Detection
- Power Quality Analysis
– Harmonics and Load Monitoring
- Circuit Breaker Testing
– Primary and Secondary Current Injection and mechanical repairs.
- Switchboard Calibration
– Meters, Instrument Transformers, Synchronizing and Alarm systems
- Coordination studies

Minimum Formal Education:
College Diploma or equivalent experience.

Minimum job related Experience:
Four to five years of experience working in the field Technical or Professional Accreditations:
Member of a Professional Technical Association.

QHSE Requirements:
Strict adherence to Company QHSE Policies and Procedures. Comply with 5S system requirements. Complete the required QA documents, as provided by the company. Wear company provided PPE during the performance of work.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
N/A Decision making:Expected to make decisions within a framework of well established Policies and Procedures.

Working Conditions:
Occasional travel to Newfoundland for specific assignments.Work Hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30. Hours must be flexible. Offshore travel may be required.
