DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

First Class Motor Certificate of Competence
Marine Emergency Duties (MED) certificate
Valid medical certificate approved by Transport Canada
Minimum 5 years experience as Chief Engineer, Great Lakes experience a strong asset
Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent leadership, supervision, coaching and planning skills;
Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and French);

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Oversees the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of engine room machinery and equipment onboard designated CSL vessel.
Ensures that approved operating and safety procedures are adhered to at all times. Keeps safety at the forefront of all activities.
Performs troubleshooting, problem solving as well as preventative and corrective maintenance to prevent down time and to ensure the efficient and continual functioning of the vessel
Directly responsible for the supervision, coaching and mentoring of engine room crew members.
Ensures vessel budgets are met by providing, creating and issuing monthly variances reports to the vessel manager including cost analysis, reforecasting data, work plan progress, etc.
Maintains effective customer contact and responds to specific customer requests directly as needed.
