INSTRUCTOR (MARINE ENGINEERING)
(Contractual Position to December 16, 2016)

The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University is North America's most comprehensive marine institute dedicated to education, training, applied research, industrial response and technology transfer in support of oceans industries. The School of Maritime Studies, within the Marine Institute, is involved in a wide variety of education and training for the marine industry. This includes three year technology diplomas covering all aspects of the marine transportation industry, including Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering Systems Design, Marine Engineering and Nautical Science programs. As part of the School's industrial response activity, short courses are designed and delivered to meet the regulatory requirement of certification endorsement for seafarers. As well, graduates of the Diploma of Technology programs are eligible to continue their studies in the degree programs offered at Memorial University, through the Marine Institute - Bachelor of Maritime Studies and Bachelor of Technology. We are now looking for faculty to be involved with the delivery of several programs within the School.

DUTIES
The successful applicant will provide instruction in the Diploma of Marine Engineering Technology and/or Transport Canada Certification programs. Duties include developing course materials and curriculum as part of the ongoing program review process; participating with other instructors in the program review process; evaluating student performance and providing feedback to students; working with industry partners to ensure the programs continue to meet their needs; advising students on work placement opportunities and career options; participating in the development of curriculum for current and new courses; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive experience (5-7 years) in the marine transportation industry; possession of a Transport Canada Certificate of Competency ideally at the First Class Engineer level; an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Qualifications at the degree level and previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is also an asset.

SALARY Commensurate with Marine Institute Instructors' Collective Agreement (NAPE Local 7405)
