Our Canada operations are concentrated on the East Coast of Canada (Nova Scotia and Quebec). The Tug Engineer reports to the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
The Tug Engineer will be responsible for the efficient, safe operation, and maintenance standard of SVITZER`s vessels.

The main responsibilities include:

• Carrying out operational services to ships in a safe and responsible manner.
• Being responsible for the safe operation of the vessel’s engines, generators and associated machinery and equipment.
• Executing all technical maintenance and repair work to be performed on the vessel, and ensuring that the work orders of the planned maintenance system are being executed and performed as per requirements.
• Ensuring proper administration of all technical related activities on the vessel, timely reporting, keeping of appropriate records, completion of purchase orders, etc.
• Keeping the engine room and areas clean and tidy and free of hazards at all times.
• Liaising closely with the Superintendent at all times to arrange repairs either internally or with external contractors.
• Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs as needed and when required.
• Taking responsibility for ensuring that the Planned Maintenance System is carried out onboard.
• Responsible for technical inventory of parts, lube oils, fuel, consumables, tools, including inventory management and including creation and tracking of requisitions.
• Working with the technical department in drawing up specification documents for dry-docking and surveys.
• Co-ordinating dry dockings and surveys to ensure all work is completed in a timely and orderly fashion.
• Other job duties as assigned

Who we are looking for
Svitzer is looking for qualified Tug Engineers for our operations based out Quebec, preferably tug boat experience. This is a full time permanent position

Qualifications and experience:

• Minimum 5-7 sea time in capacity of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class tickets.
• Class 2 Motor STCW95 with continued proficiency endorsement.
• Strong administrative/computer skills.
• Trouble-shooting skills a huge plus.
