Part-Time Professor, Marine Engineering
Georgian College

Reporting to the Associate Dean Marine Studies, the incumbent delivers courses in the Marine Engineering Program. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities

Deliver appropriate curriculum for one more of the following courses in the Marine Engineering program: Advanced Blueprint Reading, Advanced Thermodynamics, Power Plant Auxiliaries Management, Automation and Control, Electrical Machines, Steam Plant Management, Motor Plant Management, Naval Architecture, Applied Mechanics, Ships Business and Maritime Law, Stability, Materials, Electricity, Basic Control Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Modulating & Electrical Control Systems, and Industrial Chemistry
Curriculum development based on Transport Canada regulations and IMO standards
Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
Evaluating and reporting student progress / achievement
Participating in program and college activities as required
Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
Requirements

A postsecondary degree in a related field OR Transport Canada certification as a 1st or 2nd Class Marine Engineer. Motor Ship preferred
Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity
Computer Skills including Microsoft Office Suite
Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Commitment to life-long learning
