Duration: 2-3 weeks, possible 2 week extension

REPORTS TO: Vessel Lead (Offshore)
MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for client oversight of all welding and coating activities onboard a pipelay vessel with respect to QA/QC activities.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes spot-checks of contractor procedures, workmanship, inspection activities and quality records to verify adherence to project specifications.
• Ensures timely and appropriate reporting of non-conformances with follow-up review and assistance to confirm close-out.
• Provides input and assistance with technical deviation requests and associated documentation.
• Provides reporting of QA/QC metrics to the Project Team.
• Reports directly to Vessel Lead with indirect reporting to Quality Lead onshore.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 10 years relevant industry experience in welding and coating inspection
• High level of knowledge and experience of industry fabrication standards for oil/gas with focus on pipeline construction. Knowledge and experience of CSA Z662 (Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems) preferred.
• Welding inspection certification; minimum of CWB Level 2 or equivalent. Experience with Automated Ultrasonic Inspection (AUT) is preferred.
• Coating inspection knowledge/experience; NACE certification is an asset.
• Previous experience on pipelay vessels is a strong preference.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and common E-mail systems
• Fluent English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Must be able to obtain an industry accepted Basic Safety/Survival Training
• Must be able to obtain valid Offshore Medical
• Must be able to obtain Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) or Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

Note. Residents of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given "first consideration" for this position
