Alion Science and Technology Marine Engineer Sr in Canada

Engineer on Canadian and International Naval or Coast Guard vessel ship contract, functional and detail designs.

Must be able to further develop customer ship construction specifications and drawing package into system functional and detail design products including shafting and auxiliary/fluid system design, component sizing, equipment/pump selection, pipe sizing and pressure drops.
Must be able to develop drawings/provide oversight of drawing development. Will be responsible for marine engineering analysis and design for new ship designs.
Must be able to work in a team environment and to follow the direction of the team leader

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline plus minimum 5 years' experience as a marine engineer. Degree(s) must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years of applicable work experience.

Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
Should have experience in the design of research ships, commercial vessels, Coast Guard and/or Naval vessels to commercial standards.
Experience with the use of Classification Society Rules, SOLAS and IMO regulations, and industrial standards such as ASTM, ASME, DIN.
Experience in performing Class Rule calculations and detail design of propulsion shafting and bearings, fluid systems design, auxiliary equipment selection, pipe sizing, pressure drops, pump selection and material selection.

Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or Ship Constructor. Good communication and organizational skills and in report writing. Proficient with Microsoft Office Product. PMP certification highly desired.
