Naval Architecture Engineering Manager
BMT Fleet Technology Limited - Ottawa, ON

The Naval Architecture Engineering Manager will lead a team of dedicated professionals in the life cycle design and support of complex marine products including, but not limited to, whole or parts of warships, submarines, commercial marine, fixed and floating, powered or unpowered vessels or platforms. As a key member of the engineering leadership team and reporting to the Engineering Director, they will be the Naval Architecture technical authority within the Marine Engineering and Design business area and responsible for the quality of work conducted within their discipline. In addition, the Naval Architecture Engineering Manager will apply their specialist technical knowledge to work with the Company’s other Engineering Managers to deliver effective, integrated solutions and contribute to broader client objectives.

The successful candidate will have:

A university degree in a relevant engineering discipline;
Chartered or Professional Engineer status;
Minimum of 10 years of professional technical experience within the marine industry;
Proven technical leadership skills and the ability to lead the Life Cycle design and support of complex marine products;
Excellent program, risk and lifecycle engineering management skills;
Demonstrated broad experience in Naval Architecture engineering;
An active awareness and working knowledge of the impact and influence of other design disciplines;
Knowledge of current engineering legislation, regulations and standards for design and support;
Proven experience building, leading and managing strong and sustainable technical teams;
The ability to define, grow and lead Naval Architecture engineering technical capability;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to understand, establish and support business priorities; and
Security cleared to NATO Secret or the ability to obtain.
