A great opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to move to a shore based role in which they can progress their career as part of a great team in a highly successful and growing business.

Our client, based in Glasgow are looking for a Project Engineer (Operating Manuals) to join them. The Project Engineer will primarily be responsible for the production and delivery of high quality marine operating manual and technical publications. In time we expect the role to progress to include plan approvals amongst other responsibilities.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Essential:

STCW 95 Second Engineer Reg III/3 (<3000kW)
Sailed in the capacity of 2nd Engineer
Thorough knowledge of marine equipment and the nomenclature of the marine industry
A clear and concise writing style
A flair for turning technical subjects and jargon into easily understood text
The ability to absorb information quickly
An analytical mind and an inquisitive nature
Excellent IT skills
An eye for detail, and a thorough and methodical approach
The ability to deliver to deadline
A well organised approach, to juggle different projects
Team-working skills
A curiosity about how things work and enjoys learning about new technology and innovation
Methodical approach
Meticulous, diligent and conscientious

Desirable:
Experience in sailing onboard tankers or gas carriers

JOB DESCRIPTION
Investigate and interpret source data (piping and instrumentation diagrams, manufacturers manuals, illustrations and digital images)
Author draft and final documentation for publication
Quality assurance of own work and that of Technical Illustrators work whilst adhering to specification requirements
Ability to work to designated timescales utilising approved project procedures whilst maintaining a high level of quality
Liaise with external vendors concerning the supply of final publications
Liaise with Clients concerning project requirements inclusive of regular contact to maintain communication with regards to project progress updates
Ability with regards to writing material clearly and concisely, making sure it can be easily understood
Editing, proofreading and indexing
Deciding how best to organise and present documentation
Occasional travel as and when required
