We are currently recruiting for a Marine Superintendent for our Castlegar sawmill in Castlegar, BC. The Marine Superintendent will be responsible for managing our Arrow Lakes marine activities and have a strong commitment to safety.

What You’ll Do

Supervision of multi-disciplinary unionized marine and log yard crews.
Strong organizational skills in administering collective agreements.
Demonstrating leadership in complying with safety and environmental requirements.
Budgeting and scheduling.

What You Offer

Valid class 5 driver’s license (a valid driver’s abstract must be submitted with your application).
Experience in a union environment.
Supervisory experience.
Demonstrated interest and innovative aptitude in safety, mechanics, and log quality.
Familiarity with booming and rafting and marine vessels.
Background in forestry and tree species identification.
Self-motivated and highly organized.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Thrives in a team based, results oriented environment.
Dependable and high level of physical fitness.
Computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with government agencies, contractors, suppliers, First Nations and stakeholders.
Commitment to maintain a safe work environment without compromise.
Recognize problems and have them corrected immediately.
Understand the importance of teamwork and have a positive impact on the team.
Open-minded and positive in dealing with change and new ways of doing things.
Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.
