Ocean Choice International L.P. (OCI) is one of Atlantic Canada’s most diversified seafood companies, producing and marketing a full range of shellfish, groundfish and pelagics species. OCI is currently accepting applications for the position of Chief Engineer – Groundfish Fleet.

Working closely with the engine room and operations team the successful candidate must operate, maintain and improve the ships systems and assets. This position is vital to the safety and reliability of the vessel. Your proficiency in the following areas will be expected to support the vessels safety and reliability.

Possess a valid 3rd class motor or higher, MED and valid Marine Medical certificate
Assist engine team staff in any daily technical challenges
Identify failures, preventative maintenance schedules and build effective turnaround schedules.
Operate machinery systems safely and efficiently, apply safety policies
Understand the ships electrical assets, operate and trouble-shoot
Execute any and all scheduled and corrective maintenance on ships assets
Perform metal fabrication and machine work when required, lathe, welding etc…
Keep records as required by ships standards, logs, safety documents etc…
Assist in maintaining proper inventory
Contribute to maintaining a neat and clean vessel
Strive to make improvements in a professional manner
Provide the trade skills to ensure safe and reliable operation of the vessel
Promote a safe courteous professional atmosphere
Support the momentum to correct outstanding issues
Work a trip on/trip off rotation
