We are seeking a Workshop Service Engineer for our St. John’s (Mount Pearl) location.

Position Description

Workshop Service Engineers perform high quality service work a safe, efficient and professional manner.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform workshop assignments as required for Wärtsilä products,
Liaise with field service operations coordinator to ensure proper workflow and priority in followed in workshop activities,
Take notes during shop jobs as needed to aid in report preparation, preparing shop reports as needed,
Use & maintain shop & field tools in accordance with good mechanicalwork practices,
Prepare & submit parts requisitions as required,
Maintain current individual time sheets & expense records to support the timely invoicing of jobs to customers,
Maintain a professional appearance & conduct,
Maintain the quality & efficiency of mechanical work performed (as measured by warranty costs), & in accordance with manufacturers specifications & ISO procedures,
Accurate & timely care of Wärtsilä specialty tools (field & shop) used to perform service work,
Ensure customer satisfaction with job performance & through positive interactions with customers,
Conform with & abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures & instructions,
Conform to all safety rules & use of all appropriate safety equipment,
Perform other duties as required.

Candidate Profile

Education

Marine engineering or Mechanical apprentice program
Post secondary training in engine overhaul and maintenance

Experience

5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role in marine or mechanical field

Professional Skills

Knowledge of the use of measuring tools (metric and standard) and specialty instruments
Proceeds with all work assigned in a safe manner
High/Medium Speed engine overhaul and maintenance
Excellent mechanical ability
Knowledge of machine procedures
Knowledge of Local Labour laws, Occupational health & safety & display continuous improvement (CIP)

Information Management Skills to Include Proficiency With:

MS Office tools
IM applications and IM tools

Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good customer relations
Excellent time management and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent leadership skills
Ability to work under high-pressure
English fluency required

Reporting

Workshop Service Engineers report to the Workshop Team Leader.
