Temporary

ENGINE ROOM OPERATOR

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland
TYPE OF RIG: Semi-Sub
TYPE OF CONTRACT : Temporary

PREREQUISITES/ QUALIFICATIONS:

2nd Class Engineering ticket required
Able to operate software applications as applicable to position. Ability to interpret technical literature and drawings
3+ years previous experience in a role with 6th generation semi-sub drilling rig
Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Complete competency requirements for current position and work towards gaining competency in the next position

Workplace NL Confined Space Entry
Gas Detection

Engine Room Resource Management

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lubricate moving parts such as gears, shafts, and bearings on engines and auxiliary equipment.
Monitor working temperatures and pressures on all engine room and associated equipment.
Check and record lubricating oil level readings – top up as required.
Maintain daily log of all engine room equipment.
Monitor all engine room systems for leaks and report any defects immediately.
Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs on the engine room equipment and machinery as directed.
Assist with repairs to engines and equipment in engine room and machine shop.
Maintain the engine room and associated workshop in a clean, tidy and hazard free condition.
Comply with regulatory requirements for environmental protection.
Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre job meetings as required.
Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to supervisor and other department heads.
Assist during emergency situations as designated on station bill.
Ensure all relevant safety procedures and practices are adhered to during mechanical maintenance work
