Liferaft Technician Survitec Group – Mount Pearl, NL

Survitec Group is looking to fill a position as “Liferaft Technician” for our operation located in Mount Pearl.
The successful candidate will be an individual with a hands-on technical background in a service environment preferably in a safety and lifesaving equipment related industry. Experience in the marine servicing/ liferaft servicing and a mechanical background is considered an asset. Please see below further detailed job description and responsibilities.
This is a full time permanent (FTP) position offering a competitive hourly rate plus benefits. The rate offered will be dependent on experience.

Detailed job description:
Job title: Liferaft Technician Department: Marine Service Location: Mount Pearl, NL, Canada Primary report: Service Manager – Marine
Purpose and Scope:
The Liferaft Technician is responsible for conducting hands-on day-to-day service work and related tasks to these operations, such as service record keeping and logistical support. Activities performed at this service shop are initially focused on delivering safety equipment to marine industry clients.
Specific tasks
Without limiting the scope of responsibilities, the following specific tasks are considered main responsibilities for this function:

Performing service and repair work on marine safety equipment in full compliance with the various OEM service manuals and procedures (including applicable service bulletins), Company policies and procedures, and Supervisor’s instructions.
Certification and repair work includes (but is not limited to) opening, testing and repacking liferafts, repacking demo liferafts, inspection and certification of immersion suits, servicing of Marine Electronics, certification and servicing of davits onboard vessel.
Keeping the service shop and Company owned or leased tools, equipment and delivery vehicle(s) in clean and organized condition.
Ensuring that all services performed are appropriately logged on the applicable electronic and paper means of record keeping (e.g. checklists / release documentation / etc.).
Performing pick-up and delivery runs between the service facility and customer designated sites.
Inform the Service Manager – Marine immediately in case you become aware of any breakdown in service quality or any health and safety related issue.
Occasional travel for service work may be required for this function.
Occasional travel for training purposes may be required for this function.
Valid driver’s license is a necessity. Forklift license is considered an asset.

You are furthermore expected to have a positive and pro-active attitude towards customers and colleagues. Teamwork is the key to the operation’s effectiveness and efficiency. As a Liferaft Technician you are expected to proactively take part in the teamwork culture.
