The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University is North America's most comprehensive marine institute dedicated to education, training, applied research, industrial response, and technology transfer in support of oceans industries. The school of Maritime Studies within the Marine Institute is involved in a wide variety of education and training for the marine industry. This includes three-year technology diplomas covering all aspects of the marine transportation industry, including Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering Systems Design, Marine Engineering and Nautical Science programs. Graduates of these programs are eligible to continue their studies in the new degrees offered at Memorial University through the Marine Institute - Bachelor of Maritime Studies and Bachelor of Technology. We are now looking for faculty to be involved with the delivery of several programs within the school.

INSTRUCTOR (Mechanical Engineering)
(Contractual Position to April 21, 2017)

DUTIES
The successful applicant will provide instruction in the Diploma of Marine Engineering Technology and Transport Canada Certification programs. Duties include delivering courses in a variety of Marine Engineering and related programs; developing course materials and curriculum as part of the ongoing program review process; participating with other instructors in the program review process; evaluating student performance and providing feedback to students on work placement opportunities and career options; participating in the development of advanced programs (baccalaureate or master's) of study or industry specific courses in the marine engineering field; and perform other related duties as required. Curriculum development for current and new courses within these programs will also be required.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have graduated from a recognized university with a master's degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on thermodynamics and fluids and considerable (5-7 years) industrial work experience in a related area. Previous teaching experience at the post secondary level would be an asset.

SALARY: Commensurate with Marine Institute Instructors' Collective Agreement
