TYPE OF RIG : DP3 Self Propelled, Semi Submersible MODU, 6th Generation RAM Rig
ROTATION : 21/21
START DATE: February through April 2017
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time, 15 Month Contract
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 2
JOB SUMMARY: Install, repair and maintain electronic equipment onboard the vessel

PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS :

Electronic Technology/Engineering degree
The candidate must have successfully completed a course in electronics technology at a recognized training institution followed by additional training and/or experience involving AC/DC drive systems, SCR’s and PLC controls
Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education
2+ years previous experience in a role with 6th generation semi submersible drilling rig
Experience with Kongsberg K-Chief /K-Pos systems
Experience from MH Drilling systems with newer control system (Drill view)
High voltage and low voltage experience
High voltage certificate H-01
Experience from DP operations
Experience with MUX
RAM rig experience
Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates
Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the safe operation of the marine aspect of the vessel
Advanced computer skills
Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Must have Basic Survival Training, H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carry out daily inspection and maintenance on electronic equipment
Ensure that the permit to work system is in place and followed
Ensure that the Technical Support Centre (TSC) is advise of electrical issues as required
Participate in the effective management of the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) and Inventory Control System (ICS) – ensure all records are maintained on a timely basis
Maintain, troubleshoot and repair all electronic systems including dynamic positioning, communication, data acquisition, computers and navigational equipment
Maintain, troubleshoot and repair electronic systems including, but limited to, Subsea BOP controls and drilling package instrumentation and electronics
Carry out installation, calibration, and modification to electronic systems and components
Provide technical support as well as domestic and industrial electronic services to all areas of the rig
Carry out periodic maintenance according to the PMS guidelines and coordinate this maintenance with supervisor and other department heads
Maintain an adequate supply of spares in order to fulfill maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe an efficient operation-generate requisitions as required
Inform supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that might affect the safe operation of the rig
Implement the outstanding recommendations from audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities or rig management
Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor/Chief Engineer in supplying information for maintenance and repair budget
Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to Field Support Group
Ensure all electronic equipment, is suitably certified and meets regulatory requirements
Plan and coordinate with other departments prior to any major activity such as inspections, rig move, etc
Incorporate the THINK process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team
Participate in the START process
Ensure that subordinate personnel are properly trained to perform START process
Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observed
Prepare Safety Analysis for hazardous situations
Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to the Electronic Supervisor or Maintenance Supervisor/Chief Engineer and other department heads
Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre-tour meetings as required
Demonstrate commitment to the Company’s safety policies through leadership and guidance
Ensure a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig
Meet the training requirements as per the applicable training matrix
Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process
Mentor, develop and train new crew members to ensure they are competent to work at their next job level
Ensure that all subordinates have the necessary skills and experience to fulfill their assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner
Recommend promotions or disciplinary action up to and including discharge
Supervise and guide crew members on their On the Job Training (OJT) program
Maintain discipline onboard and ensure compliance with Company disciplinary procedures
