REPORTS TO : First Assistant Engineer/Maintenance Supervisor
DEPARTMENT : Maintenance
LOCATION : Offshore Newfoundland
TYPE OF RIG : DP3 Self Propelled, Semi Submersible MODU, 6th Generation RAM Rig
ROTATION : 21/21
START DATE: February through April 2017
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time, 15 Month Contract

JOB SUMMARY: Supervises the maintenance and repair of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the vessel. Exercise effective control and efficient operation of the technical and mechanical aspects of the rig with due regard to personnel safety, the rig, and protection of the environment


High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education
Canadian Third Class Engineering (Unlimited) License, or STCW equivalent
2+ years previous experience in a role with 6th generation semi submersible drilling rig
Experience with Kongsberg K-Pos/SDP and K-Chief/SVC systems
Experience from POSMOOR ATA operations on Semis
STCW Security Training for Seafarers without Security Duties
Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates
Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the mechanical operations
Advanced computer skills
Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Must have Basic Survival Training, H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry.



Coordinate and ensure that all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment maintenance and repair is done in a safe and prudent manner
Ensure conformance to policies, local and international regulations relating to the operation of the rig, and current pollution regulations
Monitor the power plants controls and power distribution; ensure that power is available at all times
Ensure that the permit to work system is in place and followed
Participate in the effective management of the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) and ensure all records are maintained on a timely basis
Operate, maintain and repair as necessary the engine cooling water system, lube oil system, and fuel system
Supervise the maintenance and repair of all pumps and valves of the ballast system, thrusters, associated driven pumps and auxiliary equipment
Liaise with the marine department regarding the loading, ordering an use of fuel, potable water, and drill water in consideration of the rig’s stability
Carry out equipment periodic maintenance according to the RMS guidelines and coordinate same with First Engineer
Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete
Carry out classification society surveys as part of continuous survey of machinery
Assist the First Engineer in ensuring that all third-party equipment is fit for purpose, certified, correctly installed, and maintained while on the rig
In conjunction with the First Engineer, monitor and control the use and distribution of consumables/materials; generate requisitions as required
Maintain an adequate supply of spares to fulfill maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation
Inform the First Engineer of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig
Implement outstanding recommendations from audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities or rig management
Assist the First Engineer in supplying information for maintenance and repair budget
Assist in communicating equipment problems or breakdown information to Field Support Group


Incorporate the THINK process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team
Participate in the START process
Ensure that subordinate personnel are properly trained to perform START process
Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observed
Demonstrate commitment to the Company’s safety policies through the consistent execution of leadership and guidance
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirement for environmental protection
Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre-job meetings as required
Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to the First Engineer and other department heads
Ensure a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig

Meet the training requirements as per the applicable training matrix
Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process
Mentor, develop and train new crew members to ensure they are competent to work at their next job level
Ensure that all subordinates have the necessary skills and experience to fulfill their assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner
Supervise and guide crew members on their On the Job Training (OJT) program
Maintain discipline onboard and ensure compliance with Company disciplinary procedures

Oh remember 3 years ago when Puglisevitch would post/advertise the salary for these positions...

Sounds like a good gig though.

I’m Humberto Pimentel with First Engineer Certification STCW 2010. I have 10 years of experience and actually onboard of Drilling Rig "S.S.D.R. Bicentenario" 6th generation DP3 of Grupo R as 3rd Engineer, I’ve been working in different kinds of ships as First engineer and second engineer, even as chief engineer in small ships, I interesting to get some opportunity of job in your company, thanks for your time.
