Overview:

Vertex maritime & Heavy Industries (VTX) is a Canadian business organization that specializes in shipbuilding and repair project engineering, and ship technical operations management. We are seeking an energetic, well-qualified, and resourceful associate to fulfill the role of Marine HVAC & Refrigeration Engineer.

Responsibilities:

Perform calculations applying specific HVAC and refrigeration engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria
Execution of engineering design including the creation of design products (drawings and reports)
Develop test procedures to ensure component and system performance
Prepare engineering studies, reports and briefings as required
Perform quality control reviews of engineering design and other engineering deliverables
Work in project teams with moderate supervision
Assure client interface at an appropriate level
Performs ship surveys and troubleshooting of the HVAC and refrigerations systems
Manage project deliverables and act as the company’s subject matter expert for the disciplines of HVAC and refrigeration

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
8 to 10 years of professional engineering experience designing, surveying and troubleshooting shipboard HVAC and Refrigeration systems to commercial and military specs and standards (knowledge of Class Rules is a plus) is preferred. Commercial HVAC design experience will be considered.
Proficient in using industry-standard mechanical HVAC & Refrigeration system design and analysis software tools.
Experience working with Military Sealift Command a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
