POSITION PROFILE

L3 MAPPS is seeking two (2) Marine Electrical Propulsion Systems Integrators. The selected candidates will provide marine engineering expertise in marine electrical propulsion & power systems. These are senior level engineering positions that will be reporting directly to our L-3 MAPPS Engineering Director. The successful candidates will be based at Vancouver Shipyards, 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, BC.
The main responsibilities include:

 Developing innovative technical solutions for electric propulsion and power systems for Navy and Coast Guard ship projects;
 Taking responsibility for the customer technical interface and operate as part of a pursuit team;
 Utilizing the best technical solutions from within L-3 and from partner companies for all aspects of the overall power & propulsion solution; and
 Delivering complete systems and technology while ensuring high quality tailor made and custom design solutions.

REQUIREMENTS
 Qualified, specialized Marine Engineer with senior-level expertise in marine electrical propulsion systems;
 University graduate in engineering, with 7+ years of relevant experience in marine engineering;
 In-depth knowledge and experience with marine electrical propulsion systems including: Diesel-generator sets (medium voltage (MV) or low voltage (LV)), MV or LV switchboards, Ships’ service transformers and AC motors;
 In-depth knowledge and experience of latest developments in DC rectifiers and Converters (IGBT, IGCT, Thyristor, etc.), Electric Motor Drives (MV and LV), Converters (DFE, AFE, etc.), Harmonic Filters and power systems design;
 In-depth knowledge and experience in the use of power system analysis tools for short circuit calculations, harmonic calculations and load flow calculations;
 Project management experience required;
 In-depth knowledge and experience in designing and engineering of marine electrical propulsion systems;
 Ability to understand customer requirements, including technical and contractual;
 Commercially astute;
 Knowledge of class rules applicable for marine electric power plants;
 Excellent communications skills;
 Oral and written English proficiency;
 Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook); and
 Willingness to travel.
