Marine Manager – Fleet

Incorporated in 1986, Newfound Resources Limited has seen considerable growth in recent years and has become one of Canada’s largest year-around shellfish harvesters. With the addition of our newest vessel, measuring 79m and Canada’s first fishing vessel classified as a green vessel (“Clean Ship”), we require an energetic self-starter with a broad range of technical skills. A strong background in marine engineering and/or naval architecture is required to assume all technical responsibilities for vessel management.

Key responsibilities:

Ensuring high-performance operation of the vessels
Effective planning, coordination and documentation of technical maintenance, inspections, dry-dock and major repairs, including on site supervision
Establishing effective work relations and communication with ship staff, support functions and other relevant parties
Liaise, arrange and follow up with classification societies and external authorities as necessary on vessel technical matters

Requirements:

Education and experience as a marine engineer or, alternatively, higher technical education with relevant background
Knowledge of technical ship operations and a keen interest to learn new technology
5 – 10 years experience in comparable position
Analytical, problem solving and project management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrates leadership capabilities such as teamwork, interpersonal and communications skills
A degree in ocean and naval architectural engineering or MI diploma in either marine engineering or naval architecture will be a strong asset
Some flexibility in work hours will be required to accommodate higher work volumes and vessel schedules
