We are currently recruiting for two Senior Marine Systems Engineers (Mechanical) based in Victoria, BC. One will be a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours/week) position and one will be a temporary, full-time (37.5 hours/week) position. The successful candidates will report directly to the Principal Marine Systems Engineer (Mechanical).
The principal tasks and responsibilities entail:

Conduct assigned engineering activities in accordance with the Victoria In-Service Support Contract (VISSC) Performance Statement of Work (SOW) and Extended Docking Work Period (EDWP) tasks.
Liaise with the customer as necessary to ensure that the assigned tasks meet requirements.
Initiate, manage, and execute deliverables in support of work package changes and progress; create, support, and approve deviations and waivers, process and sentencing of arising work, drafting and checking engineering specifications, as well as advise on material requirements in support of production efforts.
Provide on-site inspection and oversight capability as part of the EDWP Marine Systems engineering group including participation in Request for Information (RFIs), witness inspection points, participate in defect investigation and rectification, participate in Test Memorandum progress meetings, and other arising on-site engineering requirements.
Investigate and resolve production related technical inquiries.
Conduct research into new technologies and methodologies impacting the execution of engineering work associated with the VISSC known and arising work.
Develop, support, and direct ad-hoc test procedures and investigation procedures to provide technical forensic support to production and commissioning efforts.
Provide thorough technical support to and act as engineering lead for the execution of assigned VISSC and EDWP Engineering Changes.
Provide thorough technical support to and act as the Marine Systems department primary assignee for specific EDWP Particularized Maintenance and Repair Specifications (PMRS) as delegated.
Conduct in-depth analysis, compile technical data, and provide engineering knowledge support to emerging projects and company requirements as assigned.
Build a high-level of technical expertise, proficiency, and knowledge of subjects relating to the Mechanical-marine systems.
Conduct other duties as assigned from time to time by the Principal Marine Systems Engineer.

The job qualifications and requirements include:

Must be a graduate in mechanical engineering and qualify for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC).
Training and knowledge in Naval Marine engineering and Submarine systems experience is considered an asset.
Experience in shipyards or marine design/engineering organization and naval vessels or submarines is essential.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security Clearance and Controlled Goods.
