Full-time (40 hours) contractual (18 months) position starting in June 2017
Location of assignment : Quebec city

Rheinmetall Canada is currently looking for an engineer or senior technician to provide technical support for the Marine Engineering System Operator (MESO) trainer of the Kingston-class maritime coastal defence vessel at CFFS(Q) in Québec city. Rheinmetall Canada will provide pre-service training at its Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu facilities.

Responsibilities
Operate the MESO training simulator as required by the Department of National Defence (customer).
Provide assistance for instructor and student training, including evaluations and training material.
Produce and maintain trainer-specific standing operating procedures to ensure safe and effective trainer operation.
Be the representative of Rheinmetall Canada to the customer.
Participate in the management of the warranty.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
Manage all aspects of software and hardware system (spare parts, upgrades, etc.).
Provide recommendations for the conduct of training and operation of equipment.
Participate in quarterly meetings and produce monthly reports on the status of the simulator.

Requirements

College diploma or bachelor’s degree (information system or electrical engineering, or related subject matter).
At least 5 years of experience in simulation training systems or as a computer system engineer/technician or as an electronics engineer/technician.
Be bilingual (French/English).
Be willing to work days and evenings, according to a predefined schedule.
Have a good knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.
Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Be a self-starter and have the ability to work unsupervised.
Be able to travel as required (in Canada and Europe).
Possess inter-personal skills: able to work in a military environment and to communicate effectively in a highly disciplined hierarchical organization.

Assets

Experience in personnel training.
Experience with simulation systems.
Experience and knowledge of engineering side of ships (diesel motors, pumps, generators, etc.).
Experience in troubleshooting, repair, and supervision of simulation system repair (software, computer equipment, communications, audio, and video).
Experience in user support.
