Working closely with the engine room and operations team the successful candidate must operate, maintain and improve the ships systems and assets. Proficiency and experience is vital to the safety and reliability of the vessel.
Applicants with the following credentials/abilities will be considered:
Possess a valid 2nd class motor, MED and valid Marine Medical certificate
Factory freezer/trawler fishing experience
Knowledge of Freon (R22) refrigeration systems
Knowledge of Rolls Royce winch systems
Identify failures, develop worklists, and carry out preventative maintenance schedules
Confident in organizing, leading and monitoring Engine Room Staff and contractors to build effective and timely turnaround schedules
Operate machinery systems safely and efficiently, apply safety policies
Understand the ships electrical assets, operate and trouble-shoot
Execute any and all scheduled and corrective maintenance on ships assets
Perform metal fabrication and machine work when required as in use of lathe, welding equipment and other similar equipment
Keep records as required by ships standards, logs, safety documents and other records as may be required or assigned
Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels and ordering critical spares
Provide the trade skills to ensure safe and reliable operation of the vessel
Promote a safe courteous atmosphere and strive to make improvements in a professional manner
Work a trip on/trip off rotation, as well as working in port with members of the opposite rotation
