$72,821 - $94,667 a year - Permanent

This is a highly responsible senior management position responsible for the development and implementation of an annual transportation maintenance program and budget for highways, bridges, and marine terminals for the Region. The incumbent will be responsible for developing a winter maintenance program of snow removal and ice control; arranging contracts for winter maintenance operations where such is not performed by departmental personnel; determining requirements for the acquisition of maintenance supplies; maintaining sufficient control of the enforcement of regulations related to protected roads, accesses to highways, etc.; ensuring allocation and maintenance of equipment for operational requirements including; monitoring expenditures for budgetary control; leading, managing and developing a team of equipment operations professionals; promoting and upholding an environment of safety within the Region. This position maintains interaction with the general public, consultants and contractors regarding complaints and problems related to transportation matters; and other related duties as assigned.

Merit Criteria (What is this?) Screening Criteria
Completion of a Civil Engineering/ Construction Technology education program from an approved college or university. Equivalencies will be considered.
Experience in winter highway maintenance and construction work.
Experience with contract administration.
Resource management experience. (Financial and human resource management).

Current drivers abstract satisfactory to the Employer.
