-Old Fleet
-Cheap new builds, including “China flex engines and scrubbers”
-New builds spec is 1 mm thick
-No spare parts
-Ignorant HR
-No relief system in place
-25% decent workers
-Plenty of peanut butter
-No safety culture
-No PPE onboard
-Unionized garbage
-Plenty of promises
-Salary is low, unless you flipped burgers all your life

Algoma need to restructrue as a Company, increase operating budget for “new builds”, and do something about HR, or their ghost fleet will eat them alive.

Don’t forget to change to thinner oil in your hydraulic winches and ballast actuators during winter months or your new vessels will be frozen in ice.

It is shame to see, such a company operating in our lakes.

Now, dear cadets, don’t waste your life. If you are in 2nd year of your program it is not too late to become a stationary engineer or mechanical engineer.

If you still foolish enough, look outside the lakes. Lakes are the bottom of the Marine Industry, specially “ALGOMA”. Look into dual fuel engines, LNG/LPG, Diesel Electric etc.

Consider non-residency, reduce your taxes, and be happy.

It must ring a bell if a company constantly looking for crew.
