MARINE MECHANICAL ENGINEER - HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA

Gibbs & Cox, Inc. is one of the nation’s leading independent naval architecture, marine engineering and design firms. We are seeking a well qualified individual for a position as the company’s Marine Mechanical Engineer. This position will be based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Responsibilities:

Works independently (with moderate supervision), or on project teams
Able to manage schedule and technical product development for small, focused tasks
Able to supervise small numbers of junior staff on projects or teams
Perform calculations applying mechanical engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria
Prepare quality assurance reviews of simple analyses or other engineering documentation
Develop test procedures to ensure equipment and system performance
Interfaces with client peer level
Performs quality assurance reviews of simple analyses, calculations and drawings developed by junior staff
Perform engineering and sizing of auxiliary machinery piping systems for early ship concept design phases
Interfaces with client at peer level
Direct interface with design leads

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
Professional Engineering Certification (in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or other applicable discipline) and a minimum of 8 years of professional engineering experience
Experience in shipyard production
Experience with marine/ship piping systems design and engineering
Proficiency in using industry-standard mechanical system design and analysis software tools
Systems include main and auxiliary propulsion, fuel systems, lubrication systems, seawater and fresh water systems, heating and ventilating and air conditioning systems
Proficiency in using industry-standard mechanical system design and analysis software tools
Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD type software
Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
Propulsion experience is desired
