Our client is currently seeking the services of a First Assistant Marine Engineer to work offshore Newfoundland on a DP3 Self Propelled, Semi-Submersible MODU, 6th Generation RAM Rig. The Project is expected to last for one year. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor the First Assistant Supervises the Second Assistant and the maintenance and repair of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the vessel. Exercise effective control and efficient operation of the technical and mechanical aspects of the rig with due regard to personnel safety, the rig, and protection of the environment.

PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

Canadian First-Class Engineer (Unlimited) License, or STCW equivalent

< >Canadian Maintenance Supervisor License, or STCW equivalentExperience with Kongsberg K-Pos/SDP and K-Chief/SVC systems2+ years previous experience in a role with 6th generation semi-submersible drilling rigExperience from POSMOOR ATA operations on SemisSTCW Security Training for Seafarers with Security DutiesExperience with MH Drilling equipment with newer control systemsExperience with DAT systemKnowledge of all technical calculations required for the safe operation of the drilling unitCoordinate and ensure that all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment maintenance and repair is done in a safe and prudent mannerMonitor the power plants controls and power distribution; ensure that power is available at all timesEnsure that the permit to work system is in place and followedParticipate in the effective management of the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) and ensure all records are maintained on a timely basisOperate, maintain and repair as necessary the engine cooling water system, lube oil system, and fuel systemSupervise the maintenance and repair of all pumps and valves of the ballast system, thrusters, associated driven pumps and auxiliary equipmentAssist the Chief Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor to ensure all third-party equipment is fit for purpose, certified, correctly installed, and maintained while on the rigInform the Maintenance Supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rigEnsure compliance with regulatory requirement for environmental protection
