Position Scope
Site: Suncor

Shift: 14x7 - 12 hours (days only)
Starting in March 2018.
Responsibilities

Ensure efficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
Ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated Safety policies and procedures.
Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections and complete follow-up activities.
Assess and confirm, through documentation, crew competency.
Review safe work plans/ hazard assessment with crew prior to job commencement.
Ensure that all work permits are obtained and adhered to.
Take corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards, where safe to do so.
Ensure consistent application of the progressive discipline system.
Inspect work site before, during and at end of shift.
Identify surplus equipment and labour resources.
Operate in a safe and courteous manner at all times.
Ensure compliance to Corporate and client D&A Policies.
Ensure all new hires/transfers receive required orientations. Attend and participate in site specific orientations.
Ensure adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE, is supplied, readily accessible, properly used and maintained.
Promote and ensure the FLRA process is conducted before every task.
Report and refuse unsafe work. Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Complete near miss cards/voice cards.
Report all incidents and hazards to the Supervisor.
Conduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.
Identify testing requirements and ensure Subcontractors are available to support daily operations.
Complete termination/transfer reports and submit to Supervisor.
Adhere to project, company environmental considerations.
Identify quantity and scope changes to the Contract and communicate to Supervisor.
Ensure crews use and understand up to date project cost coding.
Monitor equipment utilization and report down equipment to Mechanics.
Review weekly servicing and preventative maintenance schedules.
Complete daily activity reports/daily logs and submit to Supervisor.

Qualifications
Five years’ experience in marine construction supervisory capacity.
Construction supervisory courses or equivalent experience related to supervision of marine construction operations.
60 T Boat Captain ticket or Minimum MedA 3 certification required
Preference will be given to people with Marine Engineer designation
Must have marine construction knowledge.
Mentor fellow workers and lead by example.
Leadership for Safety Excellence.
Heavy equipment experience (excavators, loaders) would be an asset
Preference will be given to someone with 60 ton captains ticket
