General Descriptions
The vessel engineer is an integral part of the onsite net washing (OSW) crew. The engineer carries out schedules of maintenance to the propulsion systems, engines, pumps and other pieces of technical equipment that make boats and other function effectively. Based on the scope of the operation the engineer will perform production roles operating net cleaning equipment.

Key Accountabilities
Maintain vessels and equipment within scope of skills and abilities
Provide leadership with vessel and equipment systems among the crew
Must be able to communicate well, and work cooperatively with other colleagues

Role and Responsibilities
Design and oversee testing, installation, and repair of marine apparatus and equipment.
Evaluate operation of marine equipment during acceptance testing
Investigate and observe tests on machinery and equipment for compliance with standards.
Conduct environmental, operational, or performance tests on marine machinery and equipment.
Coordinate repair of marine machinery and equipment for installation on vessels.
Inspect marine equipment and machinery in order to draw up work requests and job specifications.
Communicate materials needed to repair marine equipment and machinery
Must work within a small team to ensure that all maintenance is completed efficiently and in depth.
Carries out set checks and tests before each departure
Communicates recommendations
Operates production equipment
Works in production role on vessel
Maintain cleanliness of Vessel

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Small vessel operator proficiency (SVOP)
Marine Emergency Duties A-3/A-2 (MED-A3)
Restricted Operator Certificate Marine (ROC-M)
Small vessel machinery operator (SVMO)
Drivers License (Class 5 or higher)
Basic Marine First Aid
WHMIS 2015
Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Preferred Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Judgement and Decision making
Problem solving
Critical thinking ability
Computer Skills
Familiarity with diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
