We are currently recruiting for Second Engineers to work offshore Newfoundland though the winter months.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Second Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer. The Second Engineer may be employed in watch keeping or day work roles as required. The Second Engineer shall at all times understudy the Chief Engineer and be prepared to take over the Chief's duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

Watch Keeping duties
Maintenance and reporting of main propulsion and auxiliary equipment located in the engine room and on deck as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Engineering Department.
Planning and directing all of the maintenance work performed by the Engineering Department personnel in accordance with the instructions and schedules issued by the Chief Engineer.
Protecting the ship's property against loss or damage and against irregular or wasteful practices on the part of any member of the Engine Department crew.

Successful Candidates will possess the following qualifications and experience:

2nd Class Engineer, Motorship ticket
MED
Seafarer’s Medical
Marine Basic First Aid
WHMIS
Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
Proven track record in relevant offshore experience within the marine sector.
